IMPORTANT FLU INFORMATION FOR PATIENTS
With winter fast approaching, we know that flu is a worry for many of our patients.
This year, it is more important than ever for those who are eligible* to safely have the flu vaccination.
Due to the on-going implications of Covid-19, we must ensure that we follow social distancing and offer alternative methods to how we may have historically delivered our flu clinics. This is to ensure the safety of both our patients and staff alike.
If you are eligible to receive the flu vaccination on the NHS, we will be contacting you to pre-book your appointment.
Please note that these are not ‘walk-in’ clinics and anyone who attends without a booked appointment will sadly be turned away. Again, this is to ensure the safety of all those concerned.
We will continue to carry out home visits where possible to vaccinate our elderly and vulnerable patients. Again, these will be pre-booked in advance.
When attending your pre-boked flu appointment, please help us help you to keep safe by adhering to current government guidelines such as wearing a face covering and following good hand hygiene. Please also come on your own wherever possible, friends and relatives will be asked to wait outside unless they are required to provide assistance.
Thank you so much for your understanding and co-operation.

COVID 19 UPDATES
APPOINTMENT POLICY IMPORTANT INFORMATION PATIENTS ABOUT GP APPOINTMENTS
As you will be are aware, COVID-19 (Coronavirus) is a new illness that is spreading across the UK. As such, Herschel Medical Centre is taking actions to protect our patients, our staff and our community by introducing a new telephone triage system for GP appointments. Our aim is to significantly reduce the footfall through our surgery in order to reduce the risk of spreading the virus, in line with national guidance.
All GP, Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Pharmacist appointments will initially be on the telephone. If you have an appointment booked with one of the above clinicians, please do not come to the surgery – please stay at home and the clinician will call you at the allocated time. The clinician will do all they can to help you over the phone – however, should they feel the need to see you face to face for an examination, you will be invited to the surgery for review.
Essential Nursing appointments will continue as planned but we ask you to consider the national guidance before visiting the practice https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

Children's Flu Immunisation Survey
Are you a parent of a child aged between 2 and 11 years old living in Slough? If so, your local NHS would appreciate your help in completing a short survey on the flu. Please click on the following link to complete - https://bit.ly/2SSELSo.
Each year, the NHS works closely partnership with others to try and protect people from flu, especially those more at risk of developing serious complications such as people aged 65 and over; pregnant women; and young children. These groups are all eligible for a free flu vaccination on the NHS. Whilst the uptake of the flu vaccine is generally good in many of the groups and in line with national averages, Slough has always seen a lower uptake of the children’s flu immunisation than other local areas. Despite local efforts to address this, there have been no significant changes over the years. The short survey has been designed to help the partnership understand the potential reasons behind there being a lower uptake locally.
